COMMERCE CITY — Traffic safety concerns have prompted a change in the plans for the 72nd Avenue Station, part of the Regional Transportation District’s planned North Metro Rail Line system.
According to RTD Fastracks officials, the original plan was for automobiles and buses to access the station and parking area directly from 72nd Avenue.
“Recent increase in truck traffic in the area creates potential safety concerns,” according to a recent news release from RTD.
A revised plan has been submitted in hopes of mitigating any potential traffic safety issues by moving access to the station to 70th Avenue, entering the station and the parking lot from the southern end.
As part of the revised plan, changes will be required along the Fernald Trailhead.
RTD officials would like to receive public comment on the changes to the plan for the 72nd Avenue Station. Comments may be submitted online at www.fastracks-comments.com, or they may be mailed to RTD North Metro Rail Line, Attn: Brenda Tierney, 1560 Broadway, Suite #700, Denver, CO 80202.
