GREENWOOD VILLAGE -- Neither of Adams City's basketball teams could advance to the state 5A basketball tournaments. But Brighton and Prairie View's basketball teams will play at least one more game this season.
Both schools' boys and girls teams earned spots in the 48-team brackets as released by the Colorado High School Activities Association Sunday afternoon.
PVHS' girls team (16-6) hosts Ponderosa (7-16) at 7 p.m., Wednesday in the first round. The winner visits top-seeded Legacy High School (19-4) Saturday in the second round. Brighton (10-13) drew a 12th seed and will play at fifth-seeded Fairview (14-9) Wednesday in the opening round. The winner of that game travels to third-seeded Ralston Valley (19-4) Saturday for the second round.
On the boys side, Prairie View will take its 15-7 record into Tuesday's first-round game at Poudre High School (15-8). The winner gets top-seeded Regis Jesuit (20-3) Friday in Aurora. Brighton drew a 12th seed and will take a 9-14 record into Tuesday's game at Legend High School in Parker. LHS has a record of 17-6, and the winner takes on fourth-seeded Fossil Ridge (20-3) Friday in the second round.
