THORNTON — School District 27J officials, along with representatives of Thornton and Brighton city councils, gathered outside the school Dec. 17 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Brantner Elementary School expansion project. The expansion will add 27,000 square feet to the elementary school and expand the building’s capacity from 309 students to 800. The planned expansion —  a $6.7 million classroom wing — is the first of $248 million in bond projects approved by 27J voters last month.
