COMMERCE CITY — Utilities construction and minor street improvements will continue in the coming weeks, bringing with them closures along Joliet Street and East 104th Avenue.
The work, part of an ongoing capitali improvement project, is being staggered to minimize disruptions to traffic following the realignment of Havana and Joliet streets.
The $2-million realignment project eliminated the left turn from Havana to East 104th Avenue due to limited visibility and high traffic. Havana Street has a cul-de-sac at East 104th Avenue, and drivers can use Joliet Street to access 104th Avenue, which improves safety for turning vehicles and traffic circulation.
During the closures, detours will direct traffic to use Havana Street north to 96th Avenue and State Highway 2.
Weather permiting, the following closures will be in effect:
• Monday, March 11, to Friday, March 15: Joliet Street will be closed to north and southbound traffic.
• Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17: East 104th Avenue between Havana Street and State Highway 2/Sable Boulevard will be closed in both directions.
