COMMERCE CITY -- A 15-year-old boy died Dec. 12 after a crash near 74th Avenue and U.S. Highway 85.
The victim's name has not been released.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. Commerce City Police Department Cmdr. Dennis Moon said the car struck the victim as he tried to cross the road at 74th Avenue and Brighton Road. The victim and his family moved to Commerce City recently. He was attending school in Denver.
Moon said the driver of the car remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with authorities.
Moon doesn't think drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
"This tragic incident serves as a reminder to everyone to remain aware of traffic around you when walking and to always look both ways before crossing a street," Moon said in a statement.
