COMMERCE CITY — Commerce City has been honored with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 26th consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
The award encourages agencies to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
“Residents have an expectation that government will be transparent and communicate financial decisions,” said City Manager Brian McBroom. “This recognition affirms Commerce City’s continued commitment to financial excellence and implementation of best practices.”
The city’s comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial expert panel. The award noted the report’s constructive spirit of full disclosure and the ability to clearly communicate the city’s financial story, motivating users to read the document.
