COMMERCE CITY — Commerce City Council was expected to approve a proclamation at the July 7 meeting in support of a safe-driving awareness campaign.
The proclamation due to be voted on at the July 7 meeting would designate a summer safe driving neighborhood driving awareness campaign through Aug. 31 of this year in conjunction with “Brake for Bela.”
Brake for Bela is a summer safe-driving campaign sponsored by local PR firm Communication Infrastructure Group. It was launched after a substantial car accident involving Isabela ‘Bela’ Estes, the daughter of a CIG employee, in front of their Arvada home.
While Bela survived the collision, she faced numerous injuries, both physical and emotional.
CIG’s grassroots campaign aims to promote attentive driving and neighborhood safety, especially during the summer months when many children are out of school.
