Liquor store owners like close-knit feel of Reunion area

Reunion is more than just a housing development in northern Commerce City. It is a rapidly growing community that offers a wide range of stores within close commutable distance, such as Riverdale Wine and Spirits at the southeast corner of 104th Avenue and Chambers Road.

Doug Dillmuth, originally from Pennsylvania, has been the owner for a little more than a year now. Store manager Justin Markham has been with the company for roughly nine months. The two make an excellent pair in product knowledge, experience, and customer service.
Dillmuth and Markham agree that the most important aspect of running a successful business is customer service. Dillmuth emphasizes that “one of the things we have really pushed for is to get lower prices for the customers.” They say they strive to get to know every customer, understand their needs and provide them with an experience that cannot be matched by any other competing liquor store.
“That’s one of the nice things of being here is that every single customer is a regular. We know almost everyone by face or name,” Dillmuth said.
Familiarity and convenience is what keeps their customers coming back, time after time.
To achieve outstanding customer service beyond face-to-face interaction, other things must be address, such as maintaining competitive and reasonable prices, keeping items well stocked and having convenient store hours and location. Dillmuth said their main goal is “keeping stock, keeping [their] prices right, keeping convenient hours for the customers, and really just the service.”
The shelves are filled with many choices of alcohol to accommodate the needs of the majority of customers. They mention Crown Royal is one of the best selling products mainly because of the price. Whether it is beer or wine, shots or something less intense, customers will find what they are looking for without having to travel very far from home.
“They have that whole tight knit community up here. It’s kind of nice for us to be a part of that,” Dillmuth said.
Riverdale Wine and Spirits is at 15550 E. 103rd Place in Commerce City. Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8p.m., Sunday.
