COMMERCE CITY — City Manager Brian McBroom announced the selection of Chris Cramer as the city’s new community development director. Cramer will assume his new duties immediately.
“Chris’ passion for the city and ability to positively resolve complex development issues set him apart from several qualified candidates,” said McBroom. “He is well-respected throughout the community and will continue to be a great asset to the organization in this new role.”
Cramer has served in an interim capacity since March 2012. As the community development director, he will oversee 33 employees within four divisions and manage a $3.4-million budget.
Cramer has been with the city for 13 years, serving as the city’s planning manager for nearly a decade. During his tenure, Commerce City doubled its population and annexed over six square-miles. Cramer led the city’s zoning ordinance revisions, updated the community’s comprehensive plan and acted as the project manager during the initial development stages for Victory Crossing.
“I’m excited to continue my professional growth with Commerce City and advance the organization’s goals,” said Cramer. “I look forward to expanding the city’s efforts to improve customer service for permits and development projects as well as working collaboratively with the community to ensure our neighborhoods reflect the pride our residents take in their hometown.”
Prior to joining Commerce City, Cramer received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Oklahoma State University and received his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners with the American Planning Association.
