Democrats demonstrate line between tolerance, bigotry

-A A +A

Because my picture is on this column, I am often recognized by people who want to tell me what they think of it. OK, it only happened twice. But, both times were positive. For that reason, I am a bit hesitant to start off with a negative statement, but here goes:
I am not a tolerant person.
That is right. You see, I became quite irritated during last year’s election hearing liberals/Democrats try to paint conservatives — like me — as bigoted. I do not find silly and untrue accusations irritating.
What is disturbing is that I, and most every conservative I know, are intolerant. I think we should all admit that we are.
The reason I become irritated by the accusations of the left wing liberals is because they will doctor and change the English language as much as Humpty Dumpty; perhaps more.
Those of you who have read “Through the Looking Glass” remember this:
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”
“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master -— that’s all.”
The press has allowed the Democrats to be masters of the English language. Just once I would love to hear someone ask a high profile Democrat, “What the hell are you talking about?”
This is what the Cambridge Dictionary Online says: tolerant - adjective (accepting), willing to accept behavior and beliefs which are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them.
You see, this is where the Democrats and the press do as Humpty Dumpty did, and rewrite the English language.
If you consider the correct definition, not being tolerant is not a bad thing. I do not personally know any politically conservative person who could qualify as a tolerant person. We are never tolerant of people of different religions, beliefs, national origins or sexual orientation.
Simply, we do not disagree or disapprove of any aforementioned people. I am not racially tolerant, because I could not care less what race a person is. I don’t care what your sexual orientation is or what country you came from. I do not care if you have an accent, or if your English is better than mine.
To every political conservative, we are simply all Americans. We believe in the opportunities of this country, and we expect all people in this great nation will have an opportunity to be successful and happy. Not because you are different, but because, you are like us. You are an American.
From those who claim to be so opposed to bigotry, I am often lambasted because I believe that in the midst of a war we should be securing our borders and seaports. So, they call me a bigot..
Let’s take a trip back to Cambridge. What is a bigot?
BIGOT - noun: disapproving Definition: a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong.
Wait a minute! That sounds more like a liberal to me. Well, no, I guess not. Liberals do not believe conservatives are simply wrong. They make it quite clear that they believe conservatives are evil.
If your cause is right, and Democrats believe it is; and your enemy (Republicans) is evil, then you are free to say anything about them that will destroy them.
So, if like me, you just see people and not race, gender, sexual preference, etc, you are intolerant. You are evil.
Liberals love to point a finger at someone like me who wants us all to forget our differences and just be Americans. The more they emphasize our differences the more they can call us names.
Humpty Dumpty said, “The question is, which is to be master…?.” Indeed, who is to be the master of our language and our discourse, the Democrats or the people?
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
I look forward to the people recognizing that when Democrats call conservatives evil names it is no better than the use of a racial epithet.
On that day the Democrats have great fall.
