BRIGHTON — Commerce City Councilman Steve Douglas will be the Democratic candidate for Adams County treasurer on the November general election ballot.
Douglas, who has served on Commerce City Council since winning his at-large seat in 2009, will face incumbent Treasurer Brigitte Grimm, who was unopposed in the Republican primary.
Douglas secured 9,145 votes (59.19 percent) according to final unofficial reports from Adams County, beating Westminster’s Alexander Villagran, who secured 6,306 votes, or 40.81 percent.
Grimm was elected in 2010 when she defeated then-incumbent Treasurer Diane Christner with 51.2 percent of the vote.
