BRIGHTON - A female inmate committed suicide in the Adams County Jail.
The 28-year-old, whose name has not been released pending notification of relatives, was taken to an area hospital April 3 and died the next day.
Undersheriff Roger Engelsman couldn't release a lot of detail about what happened because of the department's ongoing investigation.
"They received the original report around 4:30 in the afternoon. They and the medical unit were at the scene," Engelsman said. "The person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and she was pronounced (died) the next day, which would have been April 4."
Engelsman said the woman had been booked into the jail on five unspecified charges, two of which were felonies. He declined to say what the charges were pending the ongoing investigation.
