It used to be that you didn’t even begin to ponder the December holiday season until long after the Thanksgiving leftovers had been put away for turkey sandwiches
Now, it seems as though Christmas decorations and gift ideas are creeping into stores before the last trick-or-treater rings your doorbell.
And whereas people became accustomed to the doorbuster deals on Black Friday and the online bargains of Cyber Monday, the shopping frenzy has now reached its way into Thanksgiving Day.
This guide will help you make sense of what’s to come and how you can make the most of the holiday season...
Tech deals are always king on Black Friday, even if the Black Friday deals technically begin on Thanksgiving Day.
At the local Walmart, doorbuster deals are set to kick off at 10 p.m. Thursday with a one-hour in-stock guarantee on three major electronics deals.
A 32-inch LCD television by Emerson will be marked down to $148, as well as an LG Blu-Ray player offered for $38. The biggest deal, however, is a 16-gigabyte iPad 2 with WiFi at the price of $399, which includes a free $75 gift card for anyone who purchases it.
Additionally, shoppers in the market for a new laptop will have a chance at an HP laptop for $279.
For consumers looking for something bigger in the realm of high-def television, a 40-inch 1080p LCD Emerson HDTV will be marked down to $198, while a 60-inch 1080p smart LED Vizio HDTV will be available for $688, more than $300 below the regular retail price.
For the gamer in your family, a 4-gigabyte XBOX 360 system with Skylanders bundled will be discounted to just $149 at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving day. The price for a Nintendo Wii console will be slashed to $89, and gamers looking to snap up a Playstation 3 will be able to do so while also picking up some bundled games for $199.
But as with most retailers — both brick-and-mortar and online — there are a number of pre-Black Friday deals being offered right up until the doorbuster deals begin.
Check your local ad or visit the retailers’ websites to know what is on sale and when it will be on sale. In some cases, layaway will be available.
