James J. Rojo, 78, of Brighton, passed away Feb. 5, 2013, at his home in Brighton. He was born July 25, 1934, in Lamar, to Alfredo and Jesus (Meraz) Rojo.
He graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He married Sandra Zamora on Dec. 2, 1957, in Casper, Wyo. He continued his service and devotion to his country in the U.S. Army until September 1957 and then in the U.S. Army Reserves until September 1962.
James enjoyed fishing, camping and hair cutting. He worked as a barber for 54 years. He loved football, especially the Broncos. James loved being around people and loved spending time with his family. He was very outgoing and would always start a conversation with anyone who was willing to talk.
James is survived by his children, Mona (Stephen) Kittredge, of Fort Lupton, Trish (Dan) Osborne, of Fort Lupton, Dede (Del) Pomerinke, of Brighton, James (Sherry) Rojo, Jr., of Fort Lupton, and Veronica Rojo, of Fort Lupton; two brothers, Zeke (Jo) Rojo, of Federal Heights, and Manuel Rojo, of California; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents Alfredo and Susie Rojo; his wife, Sandra, in 2012; brother, Roger Rojo in 2003; and grandson, Josh Rojo in 2006.
A Rosary service took place Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, followed by the Mass of Christian burial on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. All services were held at St. Williams Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery.
