DENVER -- The Adams County Sheriff's Office sent a couple of its K-9 units to northwest Denver Wednesday afternoon to help in the search for a shooting suspect.

The Hispanic man, who was last seen wearing a hoodie, is involved in a pursuit and shooting of a Denver police officer near 39th Avenue and Osage Street. It happened a little bit after 3 p.m. Late afternoon media reports say three people were in custody.

Police were chasing a red truck wanted for felony menacing calls in Denver, Aurora and Thornton, according to police radio traffic.

Two nearby schools were on lockdown, and a third rounded up its students just as they were heading home for the day.

Numerous police officers are part of the search.
