DENVER — Speaker-designate Mark Ferrandino appointed Rep.-elect Dominick Moreno, D-Commerce City, Nov. 28 as vice-chairman of the House Transportation & Energy Committee.
Rep.-elect Moreno will vice chair to Rep. Max Tyler (D-Lakewood) on the committee, which monitors issues involving Colorado’s motor vehicle law, traffic regulation, transportation funding, public infrastructure, and other subject areas related to the state transportation system. The committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Transportation and the Public Utilities Commission.
“Because of my experience serving on city council, I understand the importance of transportation and energy to our local communities,” Rep-elect Moreno said. “Both issues are key to a 21st-century Colorado economy.”
Rep.-elect Moreno has served on the Commerce City City Council for three years and was elected to mayor pro-tem in his first term.
In addition to the committee appointment, Moreno previously was voted to served as assistant caucus chair for Colorado Democrats at a caucus meeting Nov. 8.
