Nichol will seek third-term

BRIGHTON — Never one to back down from a fight, embattled Adams County Commissioner Alice Nichol will seek a third and final term.
Nichol announced her intention to run again in a press release Feb. 13 and will hold an official kick-off party Feb. 23 at a Denver steakhouse.
Nichol has been intense scrutiny for more than a year for her potential involvement in the Quality Paving scandal, which led to charges for numerous individuals, both with the paving company and with the county.     Nichol’s role in the scandal remains in the hands of an independent investigator. There is no set timeframe on when he will release findings.
Nichol praised the reform that the scandal brought to the county and reiterated that belief in her announcement to seek office again. Fellow Adams County Commissioner W.R. “Skip” Fischer has decided not to seek a third term.

“Adams County has been through a lot of changes, and it’s a new year with a new plan to move forward,” she said. “I’ve always been transparent in my dealings within the county. I’m inspired to continue my path of serving the residents of Adams County supported by reform efforts to improve the county’s financial transparency and integrity.”
Only the second woman in history to hold the top office in Adams County, Nichol’s background includes serving Adams County as state representative (1992-1997), and District 24 state senator (1998-2003). Additionally, she serves on Front Range Airport Authority as chairwoman and the executive board for Adams County Economic Development.
Nichol, an Adams County native, and her husband, Ron, have four daughters and five grandchildren, all Colorado residents.
