BRIGHTON – David Morrow, the Adams County sheriff’s deputy accused of child abuse in connection with an arrest after a party on Welby Road almost two months ago, will be back in Adams County Court for a preliminary hearing.
His next court appearance is at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 7.
Morrow faces the child abuse charge as well as a count of second-degree assault and tampering with a witness, all felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of official oppression.
The case is the result of a disturbance at a party in mid-June. The sheriff’s office said Morrow arrested a 15-year-old, who was eventually restrained and placed in an ambulance. When Morrow went into the ambulance to retrieve his handcuffs, he went out the side door and reportedly struck the juvenile in the face with a closed fist.
The suspect sustained a broken jaw.
Morrow is on administrative leave without pay.
