THORNTON — Veteran Colorado Rockies player Todd Helton, 39, was arrested Feb. 6, for driving under the influence of alcohol, the team announced in a statement.
“We were extremely disappointed to learn that Todd was arrested this morning. This type of behavior is taken very seriously by our organization,” the statement read. “We know that he clearly understands the seriousness of his poor decision, the harm that could have been inflicted on others and the embarrassment his mistake has caused to himself, his family ... and to Major League Baseball.”
Helton, a five-time MLB All-Star, lives in Brighton. His first court appearance is May 20.
