BRIGHTON — The School District 27J Board of Education unanimously decided to extend the contract of Superintendent Chris Fiedler during its Oct. 22 meeting. A salary increase of nearly 5 percent was also included in the contract extension.
With Fiedler’s existing contract set to expire at the end of the academic year, the board of education was required to complete an evaluation by Oct. 15, which was done during an executive session prior to its September meeting.
Fiedler was noted for knowing the district’s areas of inefficiency, internalizing them as his own problems and creating a plan to address those deficiencies. He also was recognized for being personable with the staff, community and association leaders; being transparent and visible in the community; supporting different forms of communication and being a strong facilitator.
