Adams City used two goals early in the second half to hold off Prairie View 3-1 in Eastern Metro Athletic Conference play Sept. 22.

The Eagles' Jonathan Ordaz converted a penalty kick and picked up another tally from Antonio Calderon within the first four minutes of the second half.

"It was a hard-fought game on both sides," ACHS coach Kyle Lauchmen said. "They stuck to the game plan. We built off our possession. Those quick goals at the start of the second half bolstered our win."

Adams City was the aggressing team through most of the match. The Eagles had 18 shots. PVHS goalkeeper Marco Ramirez made just five saves. PVHS had three shots, all in the second half. ACHS netminder Jose Galvan made just one save.

Seth Egan scored Prairie View's goal on a penalty kick with 25 minutes left in the match.

"They had other things on their minds tonight," PVHS coach Ryan Haas said. It was the same night as the school's homecoming bonfire. "I don't think they came ready to play tonight. Tuesday night, we had a great game. Tonight, they were in and out of it. It wasn't what we've been working on all year."

We'll have more in the Sept. 27 issue of the Commerce City Sentinel Express.
