Track: Barrera captures 100-meter title at Weld Central meet

KEENESBURG – Adams City's Carlos Barrera won the boys 100-meter race at the fourth annual Weld Central Early Season Invite March 17. He turned in a time of 11.37 seconds. He also finished second in the 200-meters with a time of 22.6.

Elsewhere, Jacob Amador was seventh in the 200-meters, where his time was 24.02.

Juan Gonzales, Varela, Emanuel Medina and Cesar Salazar finished the 4-by-200-meter relay in a time of 1:33.15, which was good for second place. The Eagles' 4-by-100-meter squad (Blake McClure, Isiah Richardson, Jacob Marquez and Barrera) was seventh, posting a time of 46.59 seconds.

The top inidividual girls finisher was Selena Figueroa, who took fourth in the long jump at 16 feet. She was 10th in the triple jump, too. Her best distance was 28-1 1/4.

Adams City's 800-meter sprint medley team of Figueroa, Heaven Moore, Daisy Loya and Aspen Amador finished 10th in a time of 2:15.37. The Eagles' 4-by-400-meter team of Daubrauni Gonzales, Melanie Armendariz, Michelle DeLaCruz and alexus Martinez was 10th with a time of 5:30.21.
