BRIGHTON -- Dave Young plans to announce his candidacy for his boss' job of Adams and Broomfield County District Attorney Feb. 21.
The kick-off event is at 6 p.m. at the Buffalo Run Golf Course.
Young, a prosecutor for more than 20 years, has served in several leadership positions. He was head of the homicide unit and lead vehicular homicide deputy in the 4th Judicial District as well as the senior chief trial deputy, assistant district attorney and chief trial deputy district attorney in Adams and Broomfield counties. Quick tabbed young to join the outgoing DA as his second in command. Young has been the lead prosecutor in high-profile cases recently, including the murder of an Aurora police detective, the double murder of a mother and an infant child and recent public corruption cases involving Adams County, its contractors and subcontractors.
Young plans to be his campaign on three principles: leadership, experience and integrity. He said his main priority as district attorney, if elected, would be to protect the community and seek justice for victims of crime. He promised to prosecute all crimes, regardless of the wealth or political position of the offender while ensuring that all participants in the criminal justice system are treated with dignity and respect.
