  • Cody Smidt graduates from U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School

        Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Cody A. Smidt graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C.
         Nuclear Power School is a rigorous six-month course that trains officer and enlisted students in the science and engineering fundamental to the design, operation, and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion plants.

  • Hericks graduates from basic combat training

        Army Pvt. Dustin J. Hericks graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
         Hericks is the son of Brenda Hericks of Commerce City.
         He graduated from a home-school program in 2009.

  • Dakota Turner graduates basic training

        Air Force Airman Dakota J. Turner graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
        The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
        Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Monroe, Cox to wed

        Richard and Jackie Monroe, of Brighton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicolette Monroe, of Henderson, to T.J. Cox, of Henderson, son of Glenda and John Kontour, of Brighton.


        The wedding ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 29, 2012, at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. The couple plan to honeymoon across the state and make their home in Henderson.
        Nicolette is a graduate of Baton Rouge Magnet High School, while T.J. is a graduate of Brighton High School.

  • Lyle Pantle named to FHSU’s spring honor roll

        Lyle Pantle, a senior from Commerce City majoring in athletic training, was named to Fort Hays State University’s Dean’s Honor Roll for the spring 2012 semester. The roll includes only full-time (12 credit hours or more) undergraduate students who have at least a 3.60 grade-point average for the semester.

  • Georgoulias completes rocket system training course

        Army National Guard Pvt. Gabriel A Georgoulias, a 2011 graduate of Prairie View High School and the son of Gloria S. Pal of Commerce City, has graduated from the multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) crewmember advance individual training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
        The course is designed to train the crew member in launch operations of various missiles and ammunition in quick strikes during combat. He was trained to perform maintenance in various launchers and re-supply vehicles and reload ammunition on those vehicles.

  • Whetstone completes training

        Air National Guard Airman Christina D. Whetstone graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

  • McCorkle graduates from basic training

        Air Force Reserve Airman Sean P. McCorkle graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

  • O’Brien completes basic training

        Air Force Reserve Airman Christopher C. O’Brien graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

  • Ruiz graduates basic training

        Air Force Airman Michael P. Ruiz graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
