A tornado touched down near DIA June 18 at approximately 2:20 p.m. In the photo, it appears that a plane is caught in the tornado's funnel but it is actually some distance away. There was no reported damage or injuries; however,q several flights had to be re-routed.
Wild weather dances around Commerce City

COMMERCE CITY -- Brighton and Commerce City escaped the severe weather that hit the Denver area June 18.

It's not that officials weren't concerned. Brighton police officers kept their eyes on the skies during the middle part of the day as tornado warnings and severe weather watches came fast and furious. South Adams County Fire Department crews and Commerce City police checked out reports of funnels on the east side of the Reunion development, too.

A tornado touched down east of Denver International Airport around 2:30 p.m. There were no reports of damage. Tami Tillson Welborn told us on Facebook that her husband, who works at the airport, and most everyone else in the airport took shelter inside stairwells. So did the Colorado Rapids soccer team, which was trying to get from Denver to Chicago for a game.
