  • Minimum wage could go up in November

    Hundreds of people in the region could see raises if voters approve a minimum wage increase on the November ballot.

    While no specific statistics are available for Weld and Adams County, about 22,000 workers make minimum wage in Colorado of the estimated 1.24 million workers who make an hourly wage in the state, according to federal Bureau of Labor statistics. Colorado employs about 2.7 million workers in total.

  • Aroma Dispensary a new face on pot scene

    Commerce City is officially a part of the growing marijuana industry in Colorado, with the grand opening of Aroma Dispensary, 5433 Quebec St., on July 13.

    Chris Roessing, 31, manager of the dispensary, said that so far business has been excellent. Commerce City residents are excited and have offered support, he said.

    Roessing and owners Gabe Lindsay, 35 and Neelin Shead, 34, have been impressed with the warm welcome they have received.

  • Commerce City is busting out all over

    Builders in the Turnberry subdivision are building more homes in Commerce City.

    Jessica L. Hansen, media relations for D.R. Horton Inc., builders of the community, said that the company plans for home prices to start in the $340,000 range, and that models should be completed in July. 

    “There has been a lot of interest. Currently, we have an interest list forming, and we plan to begin pre-sales in May,” she said.
