• Child abuse video goes viral

    LOCHBUIE – The Weld County District Attorney’s office plans to charge a 27-year-old woman with three counts of child abuse after she allegedly abused her young son in a video that has gone viral on YouTube.

    Judge Dana Nichols advised Katrina Flores Kennedy of her rights and set her bond at $3,000 in the Weld County Courthouse Thursday, May 19. The judge issued a mandatory protection order, stating that Kennedy is not to have contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.

  • Former Commerce City police officer sentenced to probation

    Former Commerce City Police Officer Kevin Lord received three years of probation and 500 hours of community service Friday, May 20, after he shot himself but claimed he had been shot by somebody else.

    Lord pleaded guilty to tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor false reporting for staging an incident. The terms of the sentencing agreement assure that Lord will never be allowed to be a police officer again, said District Attorney Dave Young.

  • Man arrested for assault, domestic violence

    Commerce City police were called to the 6900 block of East 75th Place on a report of domestic violence around 1:30 p.m. March 3.

    Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Bob Trujillo, 40, was arrested for false imprisonment, third-degree assault — which implies some sort of bodily injury or pain — and domestic violence, reports said.

  • Man charged with attempted murder of Northglenn cop

        ADAMS COUNTY  — Adams County 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young announced Dec. 29 the filing of attempted murder charges in connection with the Dec. 19 shooting of a Northglenn police officer.

  • Man shot in 85th Place home invasion

    ADAMS COUNTY — One suspect has been arrested and police continue seeking another in an Adams County shooting from last week.
        The Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded Jan. 6 to a call of a home invasion at 1201 E. 85th Place. Deputies arrived and found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was transported to a local hospital and his condition has not been updated.

  • Two in custody after robbery, carjacking, chase

    COMMERCE CITY -- Commerce City police arrested two women in connection with a robbery and carjacking early Jan. 5.


    Police identified the pair as 22-year-old Rudi Duran and Jessica Minjarez, 25. Charges are pending. The Adams County District Attorney's Office makes the decision.

    It started near East 60th Avenue and Holly Street and ended during the morning rush hour near East 84th Avenue and Conifer Drive in unincorporated Adams County.
