  • Girls basketball: Legacy rolls to win over Adams City

     

     

    BROOMFIELD – Legacy High School beat Adams City 86-20 in a Jan. 6 non-league game on the Lightning floor.

  • Snow wipes out ACHS sports schedule

    The Jan. 5 snowstorm wiped out an extensive schedule of prep sports for Adams City High School.

    The list of contests to be made up includes a swim meet at Aurora Central, a boys basketball game at Lincoln, a girls basketball game at Denver South and a wrestling match against Standley Lake.

    Wrestling season began in earnest for the Adams City wrestling team Dec. 3. The Eagles hosted the annual Adams County tournament.

  • From ThunderHawks to the Runnin’ Lopes

    For a minimum two years, Prairie View’s Jazmin Neal has the chance to continue her softball career.

    Neal signed her letter of intent to play at Lamar Community College. The Nov. 15 ceremony was at Prairie View High School.

    “It was the perfect place for me. It was small. It was what I wanted,” she said. “It gives me an opportunity to show what I have.”

    There were other schools that wanted Neal’s services.

    DENVER – Former Adams City athletic director Damian Brown approves of his seven-mile move for his new post with the Far Northeast Warriors.

    “When I came here, it was a blessing,” he said. “The school is amazing. Adams City prepared me more so to take on the role I have now. The mistakes I made helped me learn not to make the same ones.”

  • 'Meet the Eagles' Nov. 29

    The chance to meet the winter sports teams at Adams City High School starts at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Eagles Nest Gym.

    The school fields teams in boys and girls basketball, wrestling and girls swimming. It also offers a cheerleading program.

    In addition to meeting the various teams, the four teams will be involved in intrasquad scrimmages. The wrestling team starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Ruby Miller Gym. The basketball teams start at 6:30 p.m., and the swim team begins in the school pool at 5 p.m.

  • Softball all-conference

    Four members of the Adams City softball team earned all-Eastern Metro Athletic Conference honors this season.

    Marissa Peralez and Domonique Contreras were first-team choices. Jordyn Staley was a second- team pick, and Alejandra Pena was an honorable-mention recipient.

  • Volleyball all-conference

    Adams City players Jennifer Zarate and Lil Valdez earned honorable mention, all-Eastern Metro Athletic Conference honors for their efforts this volleyball season.
