  • Big fourth quarter sends Eagles on their way

    The secret to Adams City's 38-14 homecoming win over Littleton Sept. 23 went far beyond a 22-point scoring parade in the fourth quarter.

  • Soccer: Adams City on a roll

    Adams City's soccer team enjoys a three-game winning streak, thanks to a pair of wins this week.

    The Eagles scored three times in the first half and blanked Prairie View 5-0 Sept. 21. Francisco Cigarroa scored twice. Avisay Roman, Anjelo Vasquez and Gustavo Chihuahua also picked up goals. No stats were available for PVHS.

    ACHS beat Northglenn 3-1 Sept. 19. Elvis Mena scored two goals in the second half to help the Eagles to the win. Benjamin Santristeban also picked up a goal for Adams City.

  • Adams City falls in its first football road test

    ARVADA – It’s been a learning process for the Adams City’s football squad, and Friday’s loss to Standley Lake was another lesson for the improving squad. 

    The Eagles fell behind 28-0 before losing 42-18 in the Gators’ homecoming game. 

  • Montoya snares second at EMAC major

    WESTMINSTER – Adams City’s Aaron Montoya was quite pleased with his effort at the second Eastern Metro Athletic Conference major tournament Sept. 7 at Hyland Hills Golf Course.

    He shot a 9-over 81 and took second place in the stroke play portion of the tournament.

  • State medicine advisory committee makes recommendations

     AURORA – The group that's looking into ways to decrease risks to student-athletes in the state offered some suggestions after an Aug. 30 meeting at the Colorado High School Activities Association offices.

  • Pieces in place for Eagles football squad for 2017 season

    Jesse Jones begins his first full year in charge of the Adams City football fortunes this season. He took over halfway through the 2016 campaign.

    Jones has spent much of that time instilling what he called “a culture shift, a rebranding, a change in mindset, a change in expectation.”

  • Softball: Early outburst sends Patriots to win over Eagles

    George Washington scored 11 times in the first inning and went on to a 21-6 road win against Adams City Aug. 28. It was the Eagles' first game of the season. GW is undefeated in four starts.

    Izzy Alire, a sohomore, went 6-for-6 and drove in seven runs. She also scored four time. Tracy Harris had two triples among her five hits. She drove in a pair of runs, as did Coeli Lamb, Lucca Raabe and Elizabeth Ray.

    No stats were available for Adams City.

    ACHS is scheduled to return to play Sept. 1 and 2 at a tournament at Mountain Range High School.

  • Soccer: Second-half surge gives Fairview win over Adams City

    Fairview scored all three of its goals in the second half and beat Adams City 3-nil in the season-opening match in Commerce City Aug. 24.

    No stats were available for the Knights. Gabriel Fabela had three of Adams City's five shots. Goalkeeper Jose Galvan recorded eight saves.

  • Golf: Adams City's Montoya takes sixth at EMAC major

    AURORA -- Adams City's Aaron Montoya cracked the top 10 at the first Eastern Metro Athletic Conference golf tournament of the season Aug. 17.

    The tourney was at Aurora Hills Golf Course.

    Montoya fired an 11-over par 83, which put him in sixth place in the individual standings. His teammate, Joel Olivas, finished 36th after carding a 55-over 127.

    The second conference major of the year is Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in WEstminster
