Commerce City set to celebrate Fourth of July with annual festival

COMMERCE CITY — Commerce City’s free 4thFest begins outside Friday, July 4, at the south end of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park at 6000 Victory Way.

The outdoor festivities kickoff at 5 p.m. with a zip line, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, ropes course, mechanical bull, musical acts, toddler zone and many other activities for all ages to enjoy. Food is available for purchase from Marcos Pizza, Chick-Fil-A and Famous Dave’s BBQ. 

The Colorado Rapids take on the Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m. (tickets at www.coloradorapids.com) while free festivities continue outside. Fireworks begin around 10 p.m. following the game.

The city is also reminding residents that personal fireworks are illegal within city limits and the police department is increasing its patrol during the holiday, as well as giving high priority to complaints regarding personal fireworks. All personal fireworks, even small sparklers, are illegal to possess, use, or sell within city limits. Fines for violating the ban start at $100.
