Gov. Hickenlooper appoints Anderson as district court judge

 DENVER — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced Dec. 18 the appointment of Emily Anderson as a district court judge in the 17th Judicial District, which serves Adams and Broomfield counties.

Anderson will fill a vacancy created with the retirement of the Hon. C. Vincent Phelps. 

Emily Anderson currently serves as a magistrate for the 17th Judicial District, a position she has held since 2005. In this position, she presides over civil, domestic relations, juvenile and criminal matters.

Previously, Anderson was a part-time Magistrate for the Denver County Court, president of her own law firm with a focus on family law, civil litigation and mediation, and a senior associate at Bell & Pollock, P.C.  

Anderson earned a bachelor degree from Colorado College and a juris doctorate from the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver. 

The appointment is effective Jan. 31, 2014.
