22-year-old says Bollinger told him to kill her

Officials have charged Joseph Michael Lopez, 22, with felony first-degree murder after deliberation in connection with the death of Natalie Bollinger, a 19-year-old from Broomfield.

Bollinger was reported missing on Dec. 28. Her body was found in the 11600 block of Riverdale Road in Adams County the following day. The coroner determined she died of a single gunshot to her head.

Investigators found a weapon, but it has not been connected to Bollinger’s death at this time, according to the Adams County sheriff’s office.

Lopez was charged Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Adams County Courthouse in Brighton. He claims Bollinger asked him to kill her after he responded to a Craigslist ad she posted. A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday, April 27, in Adams County District Court.
