• Mary Elsie Lucero

    Mary Elsie Lucero, 70, of Brighton, died Feb. 3, 2009, in Thornton.

    She was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Trinidad, to Sam and Sadie (Lopez) Lucero.

    Mary worked as a certified nursing assistant. She loved to help others and enjoyed her grandchildren most.

    Survivors include her sons, Rudy and Jerry Zuniga; daughters, Theresa and Phyllis Zuniga; four grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.

    Rosary and funeral Mass were Feb. 6 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.

  • William T. Kimrey Jr.

    William T. Kimrey Jr., 49, of Indiana, died Jan. 31, 2009, in Kentucky.

    He was born June 26, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas and attended Weld County schools. William worked most of his life in the heating and air conditioning business.

    Survivors include two sisters, Michelle Myers and Rose Spurlock; two brothers, Joseph and Chris Kimrey; and three sons, Richard, Eric and David Kimrey.

    No services were held.

  • Dale Romero

    Dale Romero, 76, of Denver and formerly of Brighton, died Feb. 5, 2009, at his home.

    He was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Rociada, N.M., to Juan and Pauline (Trujillo) Romero.

    Dale loved children and was a member of 23 children’s charities. He was a member of the Labor Union Local 720 for more than 62 years. He was also a member of the Labor Union International Brotherhood of North America.

  • William H. Gunson

        U.S. veteran William H. “Bill” Gunson, died Jan. 26, 2009, surrounded by his family.

        He was born in Aug. 12, 1920 in Denver. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939 and was a chief shipfitter in the U.S. Navy. He served until the end of World War II, with the majority of his military time spent in the South Pacific.

  • Catherine Doloris Price

        Catherine Doloris (Osterholt) Price, 87, of Sterling and formerly of Brighton, died Jan. 27, 2009, in Sterling.

        She was born Jan. 3, 1922, to Jospeh and Elizabeth (Wernsman) Osterholt in Fleming. She attended St. Anthony’s School. She married Eugene S. Price Jan. 3, 1947, in Sterling. They were married for 32 years.

        Survivors include a son, Thomas Price (Nancy) of Alliance, Neb.; two grandchildren; sisters, Irene Helms and Addie Cooper; and a brother Bud Osterholt.

  • Glen Wayne Gregg

        Glen Wayne Gregg, 86, of Brighton, died Jan. 30, 2009, at Garden Terrace Care Center in Aurora.

        He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Akron, Ohio, to James and Anna Gregg. Glen received his GED. He built tires at B.F. Goodrich and also was a realtor. He married Grace Geneva Boling Aug. 29, 1942.

        Survivors include sisters, Shirley Landers of Arizona, Betty Shepherd and Jean Rothrock, both of Florida, two daughters, Marilyn Springer of Hudson and Linda of Denver; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

  • Harry L. Humphrey

    Harry L. Humphrey, 68, of Brighton, died Jan. 17, 2009.

        He was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Galesburg, Ill., to Henry and Anna (Hood) Humphrey. He attended public schools in Illinois. He married Linda L. Rose Sept. 10, 1973, in Henderson.

        Harry worked for Allied Security as a security guard for 17 years, retiring in 2007. He was a resident of Brighton since 1977.

  • Paul Remley Welch

        Paul Remley Welch, 81, of Brighton, died Jan. 19, 2009, at his home in Brighton.

        He was born July 9, 1927, in South Dakota to Arthur and Lottie (Pack) Welch. He married Vickie Sue Hendrickson, and they were married for 35 years.

        He was the general representative for the Carpenter Union, United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

  • Juan Hernandez

        U.S. veteran Juan Hernandez Sr., 57, of Fort Lupton, died Jan. 19, 2009, in Denver.

        He was born June 8, 1951 in McAllen, Texas, to Eucevio and Pascuala Hernandez. He married Bertha Ramos Aug. 14, 1978, in Brighton.

        Juan was a resident of Fort Lupton since 1978. He worked as a welder for Flint Energy of Fort Lupton for 10 years. He was a member of Casa del Alfarrero Church in Brighton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

  • Gottlieb J. Heit

        Gottlieb J. Heit, 84, of Fort Lupton, died Jan. 23, 2009, in Fort Lupton.

        He was born April 6, 1924, in Fort Lupton to Casper and Anna Maria (Gette) Heit. He graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1944. He married Helen Frick Jan. 21, 1947, in Brighton. Gottlieb owned and operated his own farm on Weld County Road 12 in Weld County and also farmed west of Fort Lupton on the original Heit Family farm. He spent 17 years living in Platteville and farming for Burton Tuttle. He also worked for The Platteville Ditch Co.
