Letters

  • Government is going bankrupt

    Editor,
I am writing this letter to bring a serious issue to light. While local and state elected official go about their status quo of spending and complaining they don’t have enough money, they appear to have no clue or care about the national financial tsunami coming their way. What am I talking about?
I am talking about the federal government going bankrupt.

  • New way of doing business at the county

    Editor,
Three months ago, we promised the citizens of Adams County reform. Our seven-point plan is our promise that real change is coming.
As our county grows, actions once considered acceptable are no longer acceptable. We once lived in a county where a handshake was as good as a contract and a person’s word was their bond.  But certain individuals have taken advantage of weaknesses in our system and manipulated them for personal gain.
        That stops today.

  • Don’t make teachers, public employees budget scapegoats

    Editor,
It is despicable what some mayors and governors are trying to do to teachers and other public employees. Wall Street speculators, banks, and mortgage lenders caused the current economic recession, not teachers and other public employees.

  • United Power, why?

    Editor,
I am very alarmed about recent actions taken by the United Power board of directors. The board decided to engage in a national search to find my replacement that cost United Power members tens of thousands of dollars. The board also raised my salary by $50,000 in order to attract the best possible candidate.

  • New faces, same old politics

    Editor,

  • Yes to Nicastle

    Editor,
Over the last several weeks, there have been a number of letters written to the editor supporting the candidacy of incumbent Sheriff Doug Darr. Some of those writing these letters are not even residents of this county; nevertheless, they are telling us how to vote. Wonder why? Because they want to keep their jobs.

  • Results speak volumes

    Editor,

  • A different perspective on sheriff’s race

(This letter was resubmitted by a resident in support of Mark Nicastle’s run for Adams County sheriff.)

  • Sheriff’s office employee wants change

    Editor,

  • Support remains for Darr

    Dear Citizens of Adams County,
Four years ago I wrote a letter endorsing Sheriff Doug Darr and the honor and integrity with which he runs the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Here I am again endorsing Sheriff Darr, a man whom I’ve known and observed for many years as a man who is committed to serving the community of Adams County, dedicated to protecting our rights and always speaking the truth.
