  • Eagles can't break state cross country fields

    HENDERSON -- When Friday's Region 4 cross country meet was finished at the Adams County Fairgrounds, neither the boys nor girls cross country teams from Adams City High School qualified its members for the state 5A meet.

  • Pawlak qualifies for state 5A cross country meet

    HENDERSON -- Prairie View's Alex Pawlak, who won the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference cross country championship a week ago, returned to the Adams County Fairgrounds Friday and took second in the Region 4 meet.


    His time of 16 minutes 3 seconds was good enough to put him in the state 5A cross country meet at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Oct. 29. His race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., the last race of the day. Pawlak was four second behind the winner, Ed Cleary, of Fossil Ridge High School.

  • Brighton soccer completes fall sports sweep over Prairie View

    BRIGHTON – Brighton High School boys head soccer coach Kevin Barnes admitted after the game against Prairie View that he had a little bit of pressure going into the contest against Prairie View Oct. 18.

  • Two losses send PVHS softball team home for the season

        CASTLE ROCK – The Prairie View ThunderHawks softball team came into the Class 5A regional tournament on a hot streak, winners of nine of their last 10 ballgames.
        Unfortunately, the momentum did not translate in to the playoffs.
        Coming in as the No. 23 seed, Prairie View was shutout 15-0 in the first game of the double-elimination tournament by Rock Canyon High School, In the do-or-die game, the Lady ThunderHawks fell in the second game, by a score of 11-1 to Fountain-Fort Carson.

  • ACHS' Sutherland finishes in top 20 at EMAC cross country meet

    HENDERSON -- Adams City senior Robert Sutherland finished 17th in Thursday's Eastern Metro Athletic Conference cross country meet at the Adams County Fairgrounds.


    He finished the 5,000-meter race in a time of 18 minutes 16.2 seconds. Irvin Susano was 23rd in the field, posting a time of 18:50.9.  Kyle Manville was 26th in the race with a time of 19:08.1.

    The Eagles did not field enough runners to post a team score.

  • PVHS' Pawlak captures EMAC cross country crown

    HENDERSON -- Prairie View's Alex Pawlak captured the boys crown in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference cross country meet Thursday afternoon at the Adams County Fairgrounds.


  • Brighton holds off Prairie View in thriller, 14-12

    BRIGHTON – It was the kind of play that would have sprang Dave Lucero right out of his seat in the Brighton High School Stadium bleachers.
        Late in the second quarter of Friday night’s matchup between cross-town rivals Brighton and Prairie View high schools, elusive ThunderHawks senior quarterback Jordan Vaden scrambled around the backfield as he searched downfield for an open receiver.

  • BHS beats PVHS volleyball team in three sets

    BRIGHTON – When Brighton and Prairie View get together, it never disappoints.
    The two teams got together Wednesday night in volleyball action that featured 16 ties. In the end, it was the home team Brighton Lady Bulldogs that earned the three-set sweep, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.

  • Prairie View football triumphs with 34-24 homecoming win

        HENDERSON – It was a fumble frenzy homecoming game when Green Mountain High School visited Prairie View in league action Friday night.
        The ThunderHawks protected their home field when it counted, jumping to a two-touchdown lead early and hanging on late in a 34-24 victory over the Rams.

  • Prairie View makes regional softball field

    HENDERSON – The Prairie View High School softball program find itself in somewhat familiar territory as they head into the regional tournament.

        Last year the team finished the regular season with a 12-6 record heading into tournament play as the 27th seed. This year, the team enters with an 11-7 record. After a two-day wait, the ThunderHawks learned who they will play and where.
