A firefighter from the South Adams County Fire District is in the hospital after an early morning crash.

It happened shortly before 4 a.m. on Interstate 76 between 74th and 88th avenues. A tweet from the district said the crew on board one of its trucks was investigating a separate crash when another vehicle hit the truck. The driver and the passenger left the area.

The tweet said the firefighter was at an area hospital for treatment of injuries. There's no word on their extent. The second crash also damaged the fire truck.
